On your first day, you will be given a timetable which will show what lessons you have, who your teachers are, and the classroom number. Each week is the same, so it won’t be long before you have memorised all your lessons.

Will I get lost?

This is often a big worry for new students, however it very rarely happens. Caludon is a large school, however your timetable will guide you to your classroom. If you do get stuck, there will always be a member of staff or another student who will kindly guide you to where you need to be.

Who should I go to if I’m worried about something?

If you have any worries or problems during your time at Caludon, your tutor and the Y7 team will always be on hand to support you. On your first day, you will be given a tour of the school which will include the Y7 hub on the second floor. We promote a family ethos in Y7 and it’s important we talk to each other if we have any concerns.

What equipment should I bring?

You will need a school bag, pen, pencil, ruler, and a rubber. You will need a scientific calculator. You will be able to choose a reading book from our school library. It is really important that you have your reading book in your bag every day.

Should I label my uniform?

We would strongly recommend that you put your name in every item of school uniform. This includes your PE kit, coat, school bag, lunchbox and pencil case. There will be over 240 of you with identical uniform in September. Our lost property is located in the school reception.

Are we allowed mobile phones?

Mobile phones should not be seen or heard on the school premises. Mobile phones cannot be used at any time during the school day, including break time and lunch time. Any mobile phone that is seen or heard will be confiscated and held in reception until 3.30pm on that day.

Can I ride and park my bike at school?

You can ride your bike to school and place it in one of our bike sheds. You will need to bring a lock to help keep your bike safe and secure.

What are Mr Holland’s 3 golden rules?

  1. To be honest – Sometimes being honest can be difficult, however it is always the right thing to do. We can all make mistakes, but by taking responsibility, we start the journey of making things better.
  2. To try your best – Nobody can be the best at everything, but as long as you give 100% and try your hardest, you will always be a winner.
  3. To be respectful – We all have a duty to respect each other, to be kind and to treat others how we would want to be treated.
