Year 7

During this important transition year students will be guided by the Year 7 team: Mr Holland (Year Leader), Mrs Oldham (Pastoral Leader), Mrs Rayns (Deputy Headteacher), Mr Frankish (Progress Leader) and Mrs Lakin (Director of Student Safety and Welfare Officer). The students are also supported by their tutors.

An excellent attendance record is important to ensure success at Caludon. We expect all students to achieve at least 96% attendance. Holidays during term time are not authorised.

All students attend school in full uniform. Students should wear a white shirt; clip-on Caludon tie, black blazer (with Caludon badge), black trousers and plain black shoes or trainers. Some girls choose to wear a black skirt, which must be knee-length and must be bought only from uniform suppliers. There are two types: A-line or pleated. Skirts have the Caludon logo on them. No other skirts are allowed to be worn.

The Curriculum

All students at Caludon follow a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum. Students have a guided choice of subjects to take at both GCSE Level and in equivalent qualifications.

We celebrate student achievement whenever we can and, to this end, we run a graduation system. This allows students to receive rewards at the end of each half term for the following achievements:

  • at least ‘good’ attendance and punctuality
  • at least a bronze award in the Attitude to Learning (effort) grades
  • have good behaviour at all times
  • contribution to the school or wider community

The rewards planned include a Year 7 disco and an inter-form bench-ball tournament.

Trips and Visits

The school is committed to learning outside the classroom. Therefore a number of trips and visits are organised to extend students’ knowledge and deepen their understanding. Our trips include a visit to Kenilworth and Warwick Castles, Cadbury World and often a theatre trip to see a pantomime at Christmas. Please see above for planned trips during this year.
