We were delighted for our students finding out their results this morning. Our improved outcomes have meant that the overwhelming majority are able to progress to the next stage they have chosen for their future. Many have opted to join our sixth form on the basis of our very strong A level performance, placing us very highly in the city. Those who have opted for apprenticeship routes were also successful.
We are pleased with our students’ results despite the increasing demands of GCSE exams and the uncertainties that continue to be generated in pass marks and grade boundaries. In particular, of those students who gained 9 GCSES, one achieved all 9 GCSEs at the highest possible grade (9) and one with 8 at grade 9. In total, 4 students achieved 8 or more GCSEs at grade 8 and 9 and a further student gained 7 GCSEs at this outstanding level. There has been an increase in the number of students who secured grade 7 across their subjects.
Over two thirds of our students gained passes (4+/C+) in both English and Maths. Nearly half achieved strong passes (5+) in English and maths. English maintained excellent outcomes with almost 80% of students achieving at least a pass grade once again this year. Notable successes were seen in the Humanities subjects and French.
