1-1 Device Scheme

1-1 Scheme

Caludon Philosophy

To create an environment where learning is fluid between home and school through the effective, appropriate and consistent use of technology to enhance and transform learning opportunities

Caludon 1:1 Programme

At Caludon we are proud to be able to offer a 1:1 iPad scheme to all new students. This scheme is well established in Years 8, 9, 12 and 13. As part of building this exciting opportunity there is an expectation that by the academic year 2026/27 all students at Caludon will have their own 1:1 device. This will ensure that the students are in the best possible place to access the new innovations in learning, take ownership of their own learning journey and be prepared for an ever developing digital world.

Students need to be prepared for an increasingly digital world, proficiency with technology is now an expectation of employers. The 1:1 scheme offers us a unique opportunity to enhance learning within the classroom and extend learning beyond the classroom. Students only spend a small part of their lives at school, so the learning that takes place at home is extremely important to their future success. The 1:1 scheme maximises the opportunity for students’ creativity, independence, resilience, teamwork and challenge, both in the classroom and beyond.

Our vision is that every child will have access to an iPad for their sole use both at home every evening, and at school. This scheme gives the opportunity to develop personalised, student-centred learning. Our decision is based on a range of educational research that shows it encourages engagement, collaboration, leadership and enquiry skills which will promote learning and progress. Students would easily be able to revisit previous learning to consolidate and extend their understanding and they also can explore subjects that interest them in greater depth in their own time.

The accessibility features on an iPad are explicitly explored with students and can help students maximise their learning potential and own their learning style. Students with literacy needs can easily be supported to ensure equitable access to learning via immersive reader and talk to text functions. Students can also learn how to streamline websites and create a bespoke working profile for them.
