Student Support

At Caludon Castle we understand the need for quality care, guidance and support as the welfare of our students is of paramount importance to us. We have strong systems designed to provide a caring and disciplined environment which supports students to excel in all areas of their learning, developing into responsible and active citizens.

Each year group has a Strategic Leader, Year Leader, and a Progress Leader dedicated to the care of every student in their year team. Students are able to seek guidance in all aspects of their education and daily pastoral support to enable them to thrive at Caludon Castle. Alongside the year teams we have a range of additional support available including our Phoenix staff, Headspace facility and our committed safeguarding team. When students require additional help we can utilise our strong relationships with counsellors, Young Minds matter and the school nurse to provide an enhanced level of focused care.

In Years 7-11 students are organised into tutor groups with each tutor group assigned to our house system. Students have tutor sessions on a daily basis and also attend a whole Year assembly once a week.

Each tutor session has a different focus including:

  • Literacy
  • Current affairs
  • PSHE and RSHE
  • Life Skills
  • World Around You

Personal Development tutor sessions equips students with essential life skills, nurtures their character and prepares them for the challenges and opportunities of life beyond the classroom.

There are 3 strands within our Personal Development curriculum:

  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Character Building
  • Living in the Wider World
